Overview
A plastic air curtain is a machine that blows a controlled stream of air across an opening to create an air seal. Its purpose is to separate different environments while allowing a smooth flow of traffic and unobstructed vision through the opening. Furthermore it contained heated or conditioned air which provided energy savings, increased comfort, and various benefits in industrial or commercial settings. Moreover it helped to stop the infiltration of pollutants, flying insects, and maintain a safe environment. In addition, air curtains work by bringing air into the unit through the intake, accelerating it with a fan. Moreover distributing air along the discharge nozzle, and creating a uniform air stream with minimal turbulence using airfoil-shaped vanes.
Control of air transfer
The main reasons to use an air curtain include
- Energy savings through control of air transfer
- Shorter run times of air handlers or compressors
- Support for a safe environment by increasing ventilation
- Increased productivity due to stable temperatures
- Maintenance of usable space around the door
- Maintenance of employee
- Reduction of flying insect infiltration
- Unhindered traffic flow
- Unobstructed visibility across the threshold
- Elimination of ice and fog in cold storage areas.
Commercial and Domestic Purpose
Air curtains works in various locations within different building types, including schools, cafeterias, quick-serve restaurants and food processing facilities.
AMCA Certified
Air curtains had proven to work effectively in creating a barrier out of air across an opening. Furthermore, they are recognized by standards and the International Energy Conservation Code (IECC), which allow the use of AMCA certified air curtains as alternatives to vestibules.
High-velocity stream of air
Lastly, air curtains are successful in keeping flies out of buildings. Moreover, the high-velocity stream of air supplied by air curtains is too powerful for these pests to fly through. In addition, If they attempt to enter the building, they are blown down before they can pass through the air curtain.
